The Village Clinic @ Bishops Cleeve - very good service!
More years ago than I care to remember I ran the NY Marathon while suffering a long-term knee injury. When I got home I was persuaded to buy custom orthotics, which required extensive gait analysis and leg measurement, after which I have mostly been injury-free (certainly no return of the knee pain).
Over the years the orthotics themselves have worn out/broken, but I've always been able to obtain replacements - the last time I needed to from Laurence Bevan, who had a consulting room at LA Fitness. The ones I got off him were carbon fibre, but the material they were covered with (a sort of soft faux leather) wears out, and needs occasional replacing.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, when they most recently needed sorting out, I discovered that Laurence was no longer available so I took them to The Village Clinic in Bishops Cleeve. They discovered that the orthotics themselves were cracked and needed replacing, and so they procured me some new ones (which appear to be made of thermoplastic of some kind, and likely indestructible!)
I have to say the service I got from them was first class - the new orthotics arrived reasonably promptly (they're actually manufactured in Canada because, according to the podiatrist Sally, the quality there is second to none), they were properly fitted and so far everything is good. The whole package includes a six week checkup to make sure that there are no problems - in short, I'd recommend them 100%.

That's worth knowing. I too now wear orthotics after a lengthy process of ascertaining what was causing recurring ankle/knee/calf problems. Lawrence is great, but difficult to get to see sometimes. Will bear the clinic in mind for the future! Thanks, Ed ...

I fear that Lawrence has become rather too grand to deal with the likes of us
So are you finding your orthotics helpful? Since I had mine repaired/replaced I've had a blister the size of an egg on my right instep. It will harden off in time, but probably not in time for the Sodbury Slog

Hi, Im sure the clinic in Cleeve is fab, but so you know, Lawence practices at Regency clinic in Prestbury on Thursday pm. Ive had to go back loads of times to sort my orthotics and he was very helpful and patient, and I had to be too, but hopefully now , no more blisters or strained calf muscles as a result of other ones!!
