Club Non UK Race 2012
At the last Committee Meeting we discussed next year's Club non UK Race.
Suggestions were Florence, La Rochelle, Annecy, Lake Garda, Bucharest, Tallinn and Nice to Cannes . It must have 10k, half and full marathon to encourage all levels.
We would like to discuss this again at the next Committee Meeting and would welcome input from all Members as to any particular preference.
The Forum would be a good place to discuss this, so please post your thoughts.
Many thanks

Hi Graham
Annecy would be a nice one but it's April time so may clash with the Londoners,
Nice to Cannes again could be fun .. but Cannes is naff in my pompous opinion
Tallinn or Bucharest sound interesting, Tallinn was early September this year so a bit close to those with Kids coming back from School holidays.
So of those two personally Bucharest as it's in October,
However Lake Garda would be really great, and a chance to hook up maybe with Dave Asbridge

Club Overseas Run 2012
Thanks Tim
Lot of useful information there, school holidays etc.
Lake Garda would be great, as too would be Bucharest, but will see what further comments we get.

Re: Club Non UK Race 2012
OK to summarize the options so far are:
April 15 Annecy http://www.marathon-annecy.com/ Full Half
Sept TBC Tallinn http://www.tallinnmarathon.ee/ Full Half 10k
Oct 14 Graz http://www.pentek-payment.at/ppay.php?l=1&p=168 Full Half 11k Relay
Oct 14 Lake Garda http://www.lakegardamarathon.com/index.php Full 15k
Oct TBC Italian Marathon Memorial Enzo Ferrari http://www.maratonaditalia.it/cms/en17-Maratona-d-Italia.asp Full Half
Oct TBC Bucharest http://bucharest-marathon.com/en Full Half Relay
Nov TBC Nice to Cannes http://www.marathon06.com/2011/AN/1-epreuve-reglement.htm Full Relay
Nov TBC Florence http://www.firenzemarathon.it/index.php?lang=en Full
Nov TBC La Rochelle http://www.marathondelarochelle.com/ Full 10k
More:
http://www.marathonrunnersdiary.com/races/europe-marathons-list.php
From a selfish perspective I would not want to do one earlier than October and preferably November so that I can recover from the Vitruvian (if I can get in this year!).

2011 race pack:
http://bucharest-marathon.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Race-Info-Bucharest-International-Marathon-2011-EN.pdf
Hotels near the start/finish:
Costs are for 5 nights 3rd-8th. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=bucharest+hotel&hl=en&ll=44.427881,26.124265&spn=0.011477,0.019205&hq=hotel&hnear=Bucharest,+Bucuresti,+Romania&t=m&vpsrc=6&fll=44.426762,26.124244&fspn=0.011478,0.019205&z=16
1) http://www.goldentuliptimes.com/default.aspx?Language=EN – fairly smart business hotel 367€ per twin room including breakfast.
2) http://www.international-bucharest.ro/ - fairly smart business hotel 346€ per twin room including breakfast.
3) http://www.hotel-aaa.com/ - 56€ per night for a single with breakfast and airport shuttle
4) http://www.rinhotels.ro/Central-Hotel/Home - Looks more like a Travelodge estimated 230€ including breakfast
5) http://www.hotelzava.ro/index.html – Looks nice not sure why its cheap - 300€ for a single including breakfast
6) http://doubletree1.hilton.com/en_US/dt/hotel/BUHDTDI-Doubletree-by-Hilton-Hotel-Bucharest-Unirii-Square/index.do - too expensive - 100€ per night.
I like the first two or Zava.
Flights
Costs are for 5 nights 3rd-8th.
Rays suggestion of Wizzair looks good to me with return flights from Luton costing £81 plus 30€ per checked bag.
Alternativly £280 from Bristol via Paris or £187 from Birmingham via Paris via regular airlines
Or I can get a package via Expedia flying from Bristol via Amsterdam and staying in the Rin Hotel with breakfast for £571.
Overall hotels look more expensive than Munich but still reasonable for me.
Let me know what you think. Also Graham do you have deals with any of these hotels?

Re: Club Non UK Race 2012
Carl and I are def going to Bucharest (not Budapest !!!!!)
Entries are not open yet........ also we need to clarify the date (reckon its the 7th Oct) We are just waiting on a reply.
We are planning on the half, its two laps........marathon is four.......but plenty of opportunity for cheering points
Its not a massive event, but we fancy Romania (not been before).

Re: Club Non UK Race 2012
The race is now open and I've entered.
I'm thinking of flying from Luton with Wizair - out on the 4th and back on the 9th.
